Next-Gen Snapdragon Chip to Focus on AI: Leaked Details

AI Camera Tools and Enhanced Performance

The upcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor by Qualcomm is set to revolutionize Android phones with its advanced AI capabilities. Leaked promotional content reveals exciting features such as the ability to remove objects from videos, zoom into specific areas of a photo, and generate artificial backgrounds. Powered by an improved Hexagon neural processor, the chip is purported to be 98% faster than its predecessor. With this increased speed, Qualcomm aims to emphasize AI performance as a key aspect of the Gen 3 processor.

First Stop: Samsung Galaxy S24

Samsung’s Galaxy S24 line, expected to be released in the first quarter of 2024, will likely be the first to feature the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip. As Qualcomm’s flagship mobile chip, it will also be integrated into other high-end Android phones throughout the year. However, Google’s Pixel line will not be among them, as it relies on the company’s own Tensor processors. This puts pressure on Google to deliver exceptional performance with its Tensor chips, as its ability to develop custom AI features was a key factor in moving away from Qualcomm.

More Than Just AI

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip offers more than just AI enhancements. Leak materials suggest a 30 percent faster CPU, a 25 percent faster GPU, support for 240fps gaming, improved ray tracing, night vision video capture, and Dolby HDR photo capture. Additionally, 5G Advanced support is expected to be included, promising a truly immersive 5G experience.

You can find the complete leaked specs at MSPoweruser. Qualcomm will officially announce the chip at its Snapdragon Summit, starting October 24th at 3AM ET / 12AM PT.
